Georgian Fireplace Restoration

This Georgian fireplace was salvaged from a local reclamation yard. As can be seen there was very little remaining of the original decoration and what was there was in extremely poor condition. In addition, the woodwork was also in poor condition and with parts missing.
Filers finer finishes were able to sympathetically restore the fireplace to it's original beautiful self. Where possible traditional methods were used (gesso and composition) along with the help of some modern techniques (laser profiling). It was a long, delicate and detailed process but the end result speaks for itself - it is unlikely that you would find a fireplace this detailed and beautiful in a modern fireplace showroom.Below we have shown some of the details involved in this restoration project.
