Filers Finer Finishes is a specialist decorating company that has been established for over 10 years. We offer exceptional quality for both modern and traditional decorating and restoration services. We pride ourselves in maintaining age old techniques such as Stained glass, decorative plaster and composition work, verre eglomise and faux finishing alongside more modern decorating techniques such as spraying and sandblasting.

Stained Glass

Stained glass can make a beautiful statement piece to any home, whether that be a traditional period or contemporary design. We offer a full range of Stained Glass services including: Restoration/Repair and New Commissions of either custom designs or traditional period designs.

Etched Glass

Etched glass produces beautiful obscure glazed panels for a variety of uses. B

oth traditional and modern designs can be incorporated for use in door and window panels, overlights and transoms, kitchen and bathroom splashbacks and

unique pieces of commissioned art.

Verre Eglomise & Gilding

We are able to produce beautiful unique works of art using the traditional method of Verre Eglomise. Using 23.5 carat gold leaf, these panels were traditionally used to make spectacular overlights/transoms and signs but can also make beautiful and unusual stand alone works of art. Gilding has long been used for ornate decorating such as gilded mirror frames.

Decorative Plaster and Composition work

Decorative plasterwork makes a beautiful statement in any period home. Unfortunately, today much of the original ornate coving, cornice, ceiling roses and architrave has been ripped our of many Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian homes.

Filers Finer Finishes uses traditional techniques to hand craft original plasterwork. We are able to match existing plasterwork that may be missing from areas of your home, or fully re-instate complete rooms with their original decorative plasterwork.

In addition to decorative plasterwork we also continue the original craft of decorative composition work. Composition work was traditionally used to decorate furniture, fireplaces (typical of pine and gesso Robert Adam's style) and is often used in conjuction with plasterwork for more intricate designs in pieces such as mirrors and picture frames.

Faux Finishing

With the art of Faux Finishing your home can be adorned with beautiful marbles, expensive woods or even fancy brickwork.

Faux Finishing is not only a cheaper alternative to costly marbles and hardwoods but is also saving the earths limited resources of these rare or even mined to extinction materials.

Having trained as a professional decorator alongside a degree in Restoration and Decorative Studies, Filers Finer Finsihes are able to offer both modern and traditional decorating services.These include basic coating systems, decorative paint finishes, specialist wall coverings (such as Lincrusta and hand printed wall papers), gilding techniques and much more.
